It is no secret that I do not like Fox News. Well, they gave me another reason yesterday.
Watch this segment talking about the possibility of double-voting in South Carolina (voting in each party’s primary election):
Notice anything strange? TPM Cafe (great site) saw the same thing I did when they watched the above video: not a single non-Black person in the segment. I guess all the people that live and vote in SC are Black.
You may think I’m nitpicking here, but this is important because it is an example of the media’s ability to influence perception. The subliminal message that can be gleaned from this story is: be suspicious of a Black voter when they go to a polling place on primary election day. What if this is the mentality of the people working the polling places on that day? That spells trouble and unwarranted scrutiny for Black voters. Conversely, and more sinister as well, is the fact that this story implicitly communicates a message of trust of white voters by omitting their presence from the video. You cannot convince me that this was not deliberate. On TV, nothing is shown accidentally.
People, I implore you to give serious thought to the images that we consume on TV, radio, online, and everywhere else. There is often more there than the obvious, so pay close attention.
One Love. One II.
They can’t help that there are only black people at the place that has illegal voting. If they were showing all white people would you have the same complaint? Would you complain that they are all white people? I am sick of black america acting as if they are victims…if you act like that then your race will never achieve the goals you hope to achieve.
Fox, Rush and GOP are openly attacking blacks and Dem whites. I havent heard such racism actually in my life me bieng 35. Yes these people make there money telling a large part of white america what they want o hear. The scary part is; they want to hear it. I think ther mind set is there in a fight and we are not. Half this country almost voted for Mcain and the dissy brawd. Not because they were the best but because they were white. It has only been 200 days since; and we got Rush and GLenn Beck openly calling Obama racist against whites this is only going to get worst. Lest’s rember who we are and where we’ve come from and make them stand tall for there comments. It is not just news; and yes they are acting like a KKK klavern.
